3 - Leaf Cutting Bee (Megachile ssp,) Length is 7-15mm. Solitary is normally it nesting place, but nests in aggregations in above-ground pre-existing holes, natural or man made. It has a black body with light or dark hairs. There are pollen-carrying hairs beneath the abdomen. Some have a rather pointy abdomen. The head is as broad as the throrax with large mouthparts used to cut leaves, The leaves are cut in circular pieces which are used to line their nests.

6A Mason Bee Black Body (Osmia ssp.) Length 7-16mm. The black body is covered with pale hairs and has pollen-carrying hairs beneath the abdomen. The head is as broad as the thorax and its body is robust. They are solitary, but nest in aggregation in above ground in pre-existing holes. Their nest are line with mud that they collect.

7 - Mining Bee (Andrena ssp.) Length 5.5-15mm. They dig solitary ground nests and prefer sandy soils. Their body is slender and are black with light or dark colored hairs. Pollen carrying hairs are located on their rear legs and side of the thorax, appearing that they are carrying pollen in their "armpits". Shallow depressions between their eyes and antennae hold shot velvet hairs.

9 - Small Carpenter Bee (Ceratina ssp.) Length 5-8mm
Solitary and nests in twigs and stems. They have a dark blue-green and shiny appearance. The body appears hairless. You will find pollen-carrying hair on the rear legs. The abdomen is slender and shield shape. Their face has pale yellow marks with the female a vertical bar and the male an upside down "T".

4 - Large Carpenter Bee (Xylocopa spp.) Length is 15-23 mm. Their nests are burrowed into wood, often times into roof eaves. Their movement is erratic and fast flying similar to that of a hummingbird. The body is black with light or dark hairs and similar to that of a Bumble Bee. 6b Mason Bee Dull Metallic Green-Blue Body (Osmia ssp.) Length 7-16mm. The Metallic Green-Blue body is less hairy than the black body and has pollen-carrying hairs beneath the abdomen. The head is as broad as the thorax and its body is robust. They are solitary, but nest in aggregation in above ground in pre-existing holes. Their nest are line with mud that they collect.

8 - Squash Bee (Peponapis Pruinosa) Length 11-14mm.
They a ground nesting, mostly near squash and pumpkin fields and collect pollen from the pumpkin and squash plants. Their bodies are of brown color covered in a dense light colored hair on the thorax and in bands on the abdomen. Pollen-carrying leg hairs on the rear legs and long antennae appear to be a protruding nose.

Long Horned Bee

10 - Long Horned Bee (Melissodes spp.) Length 8-16mm. Solitary to communal ground nesters and some are especially attracted to Asters, Sunflowers, and Daisies. Their body is black covered in dense pale or dark hairs. Pollen carrying hairs on the rear legs may be very long. They have stout body and the male has extremely long antennae.
